Open Studio – Saturdays

Open Studio – @ BOXCAR CLAY

January  25 – March 7, 2019 (7 Weeks)
Saturdays, 9:30pm – 12:00pm

$216 (Reitz Ranch Member)
$240 (Non-Member)

Join us at the new Boxcar Clay in Cottonwood, AZ to get your hands dirty and create functional and sculptural ceramic artworks!

During Open Studio, we welcome those with previous ceramic experience to share our space, equipment, and materials to create with clay. Open Studio is recommended for those who are familiar with the ceramic process, don’t need hands-on instruction, and feel confident working independently. An Open Studio monitor will be present to assist with orientation to the studio.

Glaze, and firing are all included in the Open Studio fee. Clay can be purchased for an extra fee at boxcar. Glazed pieces will be fired cone 6 electric. No outside clay or glaze is permitted during Open Studio.

For those who are new to clay, we recommend a Beginner/Intermediate Class or Workshop. For those who are more advanced, wish to have more access to the studio, and use other clay and glazes, we recommend joining us at the Reitz Ranch Center For Ceramic Arts Studio in beautiful Sycamore Canyon.

About Grayson Fair

Grayson Fair is an artist-in-residence living and working at Reitz Ranch Center for Ceramic Arts in Clarkdale, Arizona. He attended the University of North Texas and received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2016. He studied sculpture, drawing, fibers, and majored in ceramics. He makes a variety of functional pottery as well as conceptual sculptural work. Most of his work is wood-fired, a process of firing a kiln exclusively with wood. This leaves drastic effects on his surfaces from the path of the flame as well as the ash deposited. Grason recently moved from Taos, New Mexico where he spent a year as an Artist-in-residence at Taos Clay.
